Celebrating World Food Day from the FAO in Rome

The Food Clans ganador del Foro Mundial de la Alimentación

Today, October 16, we celebrate World Food Day, and I have the honor of experiencing this special day at the FAO headquarters in Rome.

Reflecting on the Importance of This Day

This year, World Food Day urges us to focus on Foods, in plural—emphasizing the importance of variety and diversity in what we eat. In a world where around 2.8 billion people cannot afford a healthy diet, it is crucial that we come together to transform our food systems. This means not only ensuring access to enough food but also a range of healthy foods that support overall health and well-being.

The most vulnerable often rely on foods with lower nutritional value, while others lack the information needed to make healthy choices.

The Food Clans: A Contribution to the Cause

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to present The Food Clans on this global stage, sharing how education and fun can combine to create positive change. My goal is to empower new generations and their families to make more informed and healthier food choices.

A Call to Action

On this World Food Day, we can all contribute to building a healthier and more sustainable future. Here are some ways we can make a difference:

  • Let’s Educate Together: Education is key to transforming our relationship with food. Let’s be part of this movement, sharing knowledge and promoting healthy habits.
  • Support Health and Sustainability: Increasing our intake of plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, and legumes can boost our health and reduce environmental impact.
  • Cook Together and Involve Kids: The kitchen can be a place of learning and fun. Involving kids in food preparation helps them build healthy habits and make better food choices in the future.

United for Change

I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be here and share this message. Seeing so many people committed to the same cause fills me with hope. Together, we can build a future where healthy and sustainable food is a reality for all.

Happy World Food Day!
